Did the GOP seriously celebrate this?!

Remember when House Republicans went to celebrate with President Trump in the Rose Garden after passing their health care bill? Now that the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has analyzed the bill, we have a better idea what exactly they were celebrating.

If this bill became law, an estimated 14 million Americans would lose health insurance in the first year alone, and 23 million would lose coverage within 10 years. Medicaid funding would be cut by more than $800 billion – decimating a program that cares for the poorest Americans, just to pay for tax cuts for the richest Americans. Planned Parenthood would lose all federal funding. Critical services like maternity care and mental health and addiction treatment would become completely unaffordable for too many people who depend on them.

That’s nothing to celebrate. Sign the petition: Add your name to protect health care!

We still have a chance to defeat this bill as it moves to the Senate – but we have to keep speaking up and making it clear that we won’t allow right-wing extremists to take health insurance away from millions of Americans.

My New York colleagues and I are united in the fight against this cruel plan – and we need you with us every step of the way. Tell Congress to reject this bill and protect our health care!
